naresh-my inspiration.....

As we grow, we meet so many people, some just remain as acquaintances, some turn into friends while some become very thick friends who stick to us through thick and thin... some people inspire us while some deject us..... its an ocean out there and we choose our friends to the way they reciprocate to us..... there is a saying that " a friend in need is a friend indeed" .... also there is another one which says " a friend is a person who accepts u the way u are" ....... friendship and friends are the blessed beings....... they are true to u through out life.....

and then there is that one person in the ocean, who touches our heart..... whose entry in our life brings in bountifulness of happiness and unexplained flutter of excitement...... my life to bloomed with a similar entry.... NARESH...... yes the name itself means- King!.... and truly he is the King of my heart..... He brought into my life all the good things..... has been my support and my strength.... I feel all words and adjectives fall short in front of him..... He is a friend, a guide, a teacher, and a big inspiration to me!........ He is a great artist and i believe one of the best in the world but he still tries to do that something extra with each and every of his new paintings and creations...... his dedication to towards his work is awesome and seen to be believed..... Yes he has changed a lot over the period of time and it has to be seen to be believed..... people who knew him earlier and see him now are in for a great surprise!!!!....... from a lazy bum(in his college days) to a workaholic - the change is tremendous..... But he has always had a great hand and a great mind!!.... he always tells me- "u dont paint with ur hand, u paint with ur head and mind"..... A great observer and a perfect skills-man who would never go back or shy away from learning new tricks of the trade..... he also has another belief- " the day u stop learning is the day the artist in u dies"......

Yes, I have been so very lucky to have found my husband in him.... a great father to our only son, sanvrit....... and mind u, sanvrit too possesses and has been passed all the great genes of his father.....

festivals of india!!

India as everybody knows is such a splendid blend and mixture of cultures!! sometimes i feel that one calender year falls short for all the festivals and occasions that we have...... its shivratri today- 12th feb 2010..... and there are so many stories attached to this particular day....

This festival is celebrated every year on the 13th night/14th day in the Krishna Paksha (waning moon) of the month of Maagha (as per Shalivahana or Gujarati Vikrama) or Phalguna (as per Vikrama) in the Hindu Calendar (that is, the night before and day of the new moon). The festival is principally celebrated by offerings of Bael (Bilva) leaves to the Lord Shiva, all day fasting and an all night long vigil.

Books

Books!! something which we run away from as a child!!.... maybe that is something of a rebellious attitude as a child.... But these are our true treasures.... treasures for life..... so much to learn from and so much to practice from..... each book is a life in itself...... take a biography to a literary work to fiction to mystery to self help etc etc..... some books give you a thought to think.....some impart knowledge and information.... some are entertaining while some inspire you to do good and better things......

Of late i have been reading quite a few books of different genre.... Right now i am immersed in "The Discovery Of INDIA" by Jawaharlal Nehru..... must say a very interesting as well as intriguing book and so beautifully written..... Of course i have read just a few pages of the book as yet, but its keeping me glued....... History can be so interesting, i never knew..... how many of us know that India got its name from River Indus and Hindustan and Hindu are derived from the word Sindhu, which is another name for the river Indus..... Hindu was never a religion by itself during the early civilization, it was much much later that the followers of a religion were called Hindus....

During the early times, India was first know as "The Nobel Land" or "Aryadesha"..... and the religion was referred as "Arya Dharma"....

Sometimes the knowledge of where we came from and where our roots are can be so very surprising....

we must have read about these things.... about the aryans and their travel to india during our school days, but back then these things are just mere subjects for us which now as we grow older, hold so much importance and mean a wealth of knowledge!!

tagore's poem touches heart

ooops!! have been out of action for some time now.... here is something interesting that i recently read.... this is a poem by Shri Rabindranath Tagore and it goes like this-

Incense yearns to disappear in scent,
Scent to cling to incense.
Melody seeks to fetter herself in rhythm,
While the rhythm flows back to melody.
Idea seeks it body in form,
Form its freedom in the idea.
The infinite seeks the touch of the finite,
The finite its release in the infinite.
What drama is this between creation and destruction-
This ceaseless to and fro between idea and form?
Bondage is striving after freedom,
And freedom seeking rest in bondage

An absolutely beautiful verse and poem... it truly touches the heart and soul of a person! If one happens to sit and think on this verse and understands the in-depth meaning of the same, what one realizes/gets is series of astonishing facts and beautiful surprises.....
